TOASTRACK TRAM Episode 2 “The O-class tram wasn’t just transportation, it was symbol of a city on the move… You’d jump on and eat your sandwiches, choofing across the Harbour Bridge… in an open carriage.. looking down at the water and any boats that were there.”

Episode 3 “It’s sort of holding those both, the playfulness and fun and extravagance of the costume, with the sort of reality of what was going on. There’s a lot of whiplash between fun and celebration, and tragedy.”

ANT CHAIR

Episode 4

“The original Ant Chair has three legs, and so the designer put this to market… and they found it really unsettling, that it was three legs, that they might fall over on it. I do think it makes it more interesting looking with three legs… for me it’s sort of, an icon of what design should be.”

CORNELIUS FURS

Episode 5

“We just took it for granted that because it was a women’s shop, it was actually women running it… She was very, very important in the intellectual life of Sydney, as well as the business life, and that was the interesting thing about that family. I don’t know whether it’s been remembered.”

“Everyone enjoyed that, particularly the little kids. ‘Cause that’s the only way you could get them. I used to say to them, the Apostles will come out soon! They used to sit there, mesmerised. Once they were finished that was it, they weren’t interested. But they would be for that short time.”
