Sunday 8 June was another fantastic day at Powerhouse Castle Hill, filled with creativity, learning, and community connection. We welcomed visitors for the second Lace Workshop and trialled an exciting new Space Discovery Station—and the energy was incredible!

Lace Workshop
Our second lace-making workshop was a wonderful success, attracting enthusiastic participants keen to discover the delicate craft of lace. Expertly led by the talented Isa, with support from our dedicated lace volunteer Edna.
Participants delved into the fascinating heritage and intricate techniques of lace-making before creating their own piece. The relaxed, intimate format was a hit, with overwhelmingly positive feedback.
The Lace Workshop now takes place on the second Sunday of each month—we’d love to see you there!

Space Discovery Station
In an exciting first, our Interactive Volunteers trialled the new Space Discovery Station, featuring the LEGO Saturn V model, space-themed storytelling, a 1967 Saturn V launch video on an iPad, and space badge-making inspired by real Powerhouse collection objects.

All the activities offered to visitors were a huge success, engaging and inspiring everyone who took part. The badge-making was a standout hit—visitors couldn’t get enough!
Looking Ahead
Next up, we’re thrilled to be launching the Textiles Discovery Station on Sunday 13 July. We can’t wait to share more hands-on fun and fascinating stories with our visitors.
Thank You
A huge thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who made the Lace Workshop and Space Discovery Station such a success. Your creativity, enthusiasm, and commitment bring these programs to life—and we couldn’t do it without you.
Here’s to many more inspiring Sundays at Powerhouse Castle Hill!
