Family Day at Powerhouse Castle Hill on 4 May was a day full of innovative activities centered around digital technology. With the assistance of our dedicated volunteers, visitors of all ages delved into a plethora of engaging workshops and demonstrations designed to spark creativity and curiosity.
One of the highlights of the day was the “Useful Objects: Digital Drawing” workshop led by the talented artist Cameron Stead. Participants had the opportunity to unleash their imagination and design new or reimagined objects that could enhance everyday life, all through the magic of digital drawing.

Neuranext captivated audiences with their insightful sessions on Artificial Intelligence. From live demonstrations of robot dogs to exploring the endless possibilities of AI and its impact on the future.
Meanwhile, RoboThink took visitors on an exciting journey into the world of robotics, where they learned basic computer coding skills to make their robot models perform remarkable tasks. The enthusiasm was palpable as visitors programmed their robots to navigate challenges and accomplish various feats.

For those eager to dive into the world of coding, the Micro:Bit booth provided an accessible introduction to physical computing. With the BBC micro:bit, visitors discovered the fundamentals of coding through a user-friendly block interface, all while having a blast with robotics projects.

Creativity soared at the Flipbook Animation station, where visitors learned the art of early 2D animation using Post-it notes. From sketching out their stories image by image to bringing them to life digitally on iPads, participants embarked on a journey of storytelling and animation, showcasing their imagination and talent.

Throughout the day, our volunteers played a vital role in assisting visitors as they explored these exciting activities. Their dedication and enthusiasm ensured that everyone had a memorable and enriching experience at Family Day.
