Embracing Talent: Work Experience at the Powerhouse

Last week, the Powerhouse offered a work experience opportunity to Jayden, a local year 10 student who was part of the JobReady program at John Berne School. Jayden’s unique skills and strong passion for learning were a perfect match for the Powerhouse culture.

Jayden displayed a natural ability for hands-on work and problem-solving. He worked closely with the audiovisual and workshop teams, and was given the chance to work on the Museum’s 3D printers to create nameplates for himself and his (lucky) sister, showcasing his creativity and attention to detail. He also built a shelter for his cat, which was an opportunity to demonstrate his and the team’s innovative thinking.

Jayden’s interest in typewriters aligned perfectly with other tasks at hand. He took on the responsibility of cleaning and maintaining three typewriters that volunteers use for outreach.

We would like to thank the teams who provided guidance and support to Jayden during his placement. Their assistance was valuable in shaping his experience and helped him grow throughout the week. Jayden’s time at the Powerhouse emphasised the importance of providing hands-on learning experiences and how much museums can inspire people to explore their potential. We are grateful to Jayden for sharing his talents and motivating us all
